Many of you may be aware of an "opinion/social networking" site with a logo similar to the one above. If you've gone so far as to actually join that site, and have spent more than a week there, then you're very likely familiar with the general nastiness which the site not only tolerates, but seems to encourage. Racism - both covert and overt - is seemingly openly tolerated by the site administrators, as are threats to the lives of various public/political figures - up to and (definitely) including the President of the United States.

The situation is made worse by the fact that any and all efforts to inject a sense of humanity, a sense of empathy, or a sense of justice into the ongoing hate-fest are moderated into dust. At the very least, any and all dissenting opinions, any attempts to defend an opposing viewpoint, and any attempt at real and logic-based debate are "blocked" into silence. Folks, the inmates are running the asylum, and are doing so with an impunity granted to them by a multi-million dollar site - a site with advertisers and investors who (apparently) condone the sort of hateful bile that they're passing off as "opinions".

The purpose of this portion of my site is to act as a "block-free" zone, where the complaints many of you may have about the site will actually be seen. We can't do a damned thing about any of it, but at least we can do our part to let decent, humane people know what really goes on there.
